In 2020 we celebrate 40 years of Orff Schulwerk in Australia and our 20th National Conference!

The conference will be held at the Rydges Swanston hotel at 701 Swanston Street, Carlton - located just on the edge of Melbourne CBD.

Call for Presentations

We invite music, dance, movement and drama educators, working with children of any age, to submit an application to present a workshop and/or paper at the 20th National Conference of Orff Schulwerk.  We require a strong emphasis on the elements of Orff Schulwerk in all sessions.

We would welcome applications to present in any field of the performing arts.  Some suggested themes include:

WORKSHOPS

Workshop sessions, of interest to early childhood, primary and secondary performing arts educators, are invited.  Workshops will be 75 minutes duration and should include the active involvement of participants.  Some sessions may be selected as repeats or ‘all in’ sessions.  Presenters are required to provide up to 5 pages of notes for the conference handbook and will be paid a fee of $150 per hour.  Presenters also receive registration, meals and conference notes on the day of their presentation.  The emphasis in workshops is on education and skills development.

PAPERS

Papers on any aspect of music and movement education are invited.  Presentations will be of 25 minutes duration.  There will be 5 minutes discussion time at the end of the session.

Presenters are required to provide up to 5 pages of notes for the conference handbook and will be paid a fee of $50.

Presenters also receive complimentary registration, meals and conference notes on the day of their presentation.

 

SPONSORED SESSIONS

If you would like to present your own materials, we would welcome your application.  No fees are paid for sponsored sessions.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

Please complete the application form below and submit by 24 March, 2019.  To complete the application form you will need to include:

  • Session Type – Workshop, Paper, Sponsored Session.

  • A short abstract of the proposed session (maximum 250 words).

  • A one or two sentence description of the proposed session for the Programme, as well as the specific age for which the presentation is targeted and the level of experience required of teachers.

  • Contact details (including full name, address, phone and email).

  • A current biography (up to 100 words), including membership details of any Orff Association, for inclusion in the conference handbook, on the conference website, and for advertising purposes.

  • If you have not presented at an Orff conference before, an outline of any Orff Levels Training or Orff PD you have completed, and also the name, phone and email details of two referees.

Please be sure to include ALL of the above information for your submission to be considered.

 

Applications will close on 24 March, 2019.  Please submit your application by this date.

 

All applicants will be notified of their selection or otherwise. 

Successful applicants will receive a letter of invitation which will confirm the final terms.

All presenters will receive registration, meals and conference notes on the day of presentation only.  A discounted registration rate is offered for presenters on non-presenting days.

Presenters will be required to pay their own expenses, including travel, accommodation and meals that are not included in the registration.

Any presenter who would like to have a trade stall at the conference will be offered this opportunity at a discounted rate.  There is also the opportunity to promote/sell any resources through the VOSA Resources stall (terms to be negotiated).
